We're excited to announce that the official version of the Koin Plugin for Android Studio and IntelliJ is now available! In this post, we'll walk you through the simple installation process and show you how this tool will transform your development workflow with Kotlin and Koin.
The Koin IDE Plugin allows you to visualize and manage your Koin configurations and dependencies directly within your development environment, simplifying code navigation, and helping you spot configuration, performance and complexity issues early in the development process.
Setting up the Koin IDE Plugin is straightforward. Here's how to get started:
Head over to the JetBrains Marketplace . Click the Install button, and the plugin will automatically download to your system. If you're already in Android Studio or IntelliJ IDEA, you can also install it directly from Settings → Plugins → Marketplace.
After downloading, open (or restart) Android Studio or IntelliJ IDEA. You'll see a pop-up window describing the Koin IDE Plugin and its features. Click OK to complete the installation.
Your account gets you the plugin, plus all the good stuff on the Kotzilla Platform, like automatic detection of app issues, root cause analysis tools as well as resources, community insights, and direct support from our team when you need it. To create an account click on "Register a new Kotzilla account":
Why create an account? Just to be clear - while Koin itself is and always will be open-source, this plugin isn't. The account system? That's just our way of getting to know who's using our tools. And don't worry - we're keeping the plugin 100% free to use it standalone and the rest of the Kotzilla Platform free to use for debugging your apps if you're a solo developer.
Once your account is verified, return to your IDE and click Sign In with Kotzilla. After signing in, you'll immediately notice:
With the Koin IDE Plugin you'll have complete visibility into your dependency structure. You'll be able to:
We're continuously working to improve the Koin IDE Plugin. Future updates will include:
🚧 Support for declarations with qualifiers
🚧 Support for Koin annotations
🚧 Configuration tree filtering and grouping options
🚧 More configuration safety checks
This plugin was built based on feedback from developers like you. We'd love to hear about your experience using it! Share your thoughts and suggestions through the Kotzilla Platform.
