Ever wished you could see your entire Koin dependency structure at a glance? Or wanted to catch...
Getting Started with the Koin Plugin As Simple As 1, 2, 3, 4.
We're excited to announce that the official version of the Koin Plugin for Android Studio and IntelliJ is now available! In this post, we'll walk you through the simple installation process and show you how this tool will transform your development workflow with Kotlin and Koin.
What is the Koin IDE Plugin?
The Koin IDE Plugin allows you to visualize and manage your Koin configurations and dependencies directly within your development environment, simplifying code navigation, and helping you spot configuration, performance and complexity issues early in the development process.
Key features include:
- Complete visualization of your application's dependency structure
- Real-time validation of your Koin configuration
- Easy navigation between configuration and implementation
- Comprehensive issue detection with detailed explanations
Installation Guide: Up and Running in 4 Simple Steps
Setting up the Koin IDE Plugin is straightforward. Here's how to get started:
Step 1: Download the Plugin
Head over to the JetBrains Marketplace . Click the Install button, and the plugin will automatically download to your system. If you're already in Android Studio or IntelliJ IDEA, you can also install it directly from Settings → Plugins → Marketplace.
Step 2: Validate the Installation
After downloading, open (or restart) Android Studio or IntelliJ IDEA. You'll see a pop-up window describing the Koin IDE Plugin and its features. Click OK to complete the installation.
Step 3: Create Your Kotzilla Account
Your account gets you the plugin, plus all the good stuff on the Kotzilla Platform, like automatic detection of app issues, root cause analysis tools as well as resources, community insights, and direct support from our team when you need it. To create an account click on "Register a new Kotzilla account":

Why create an account? Just to be clear - while Koin itself is and always will be open-source, this plugin isn't. The account system? That's just our way of getting to know who's using our tools. And don't worry - we're keeping the plugin 100% free to use it standalone and the rest of the Kotzilla Platform free to use for debugging your apps if you're a solo developer.
Step 4: Sign In and Start Exploring
Once your account is verified, return to your IDE and click Sign In with Kotzilla. After signing in, you'll immediately notice:
- The Configuration Tree View panel on the right side of your screen, showing your entire Koin dependency structure
- The Issue Panel on the left side, highlighting potential Koin configuration problems as well as app issues detected in your apps (when connected to the rest of the Kotzilla Platform)
What to Expect
With the Koin IDE Plugin you'll have complete visibility into your dependency structure. You'll be able to:
✅ See the relationships between your dependencies
✅ Identify potential issues before they cause runtime errors
✅ Navigate seamlessly between declarations and implementations
✅ Validate your Koin configuration in real-time
✅ Identify performance and complexity issues in your app thanks to the Kotzilla SDK
✅ Connect with the Kotzilla Console for root cause analysis of issues
Coming Soon
We're continuously working to improve the Koin IDE Plugin. Future updates will include:
🚧 Support for declarations with qualifiers
🚧 Support for Koin annotations
🚧 Configuration tree filtering and grouping options
